All ranger pets have the same stats (except of course bears, whos DPS is lower because of the long time it takes to use their useless skill)
If its just a look

If it involves seperate stats

I agree with Why_Me. If its just for the look(type of pet) /signed if it has different stats /not signed. Gw needs more flying creatures. The phoenix was pretty cool, hope that we get more flying pets in nightfall

If they made an eagle, they'd soon remove it
Anyone remember the dispute over the Panda?
Since it would be able to die, people would declare its promoting the death of Eagles, which represent the United States and it would removed.
Its kinda sad really.
But anyways...
I wouldn't want one. I want animals that look different than real life animals.
The only one like that is the Moa. Which is an extinct flightless bird.
I still wait for the Dodo.

Eagle are a class of birds Puebert in the raptor family. Not all of them represent the US (though, granted, many are endangered).
The politcal correctness thing is really annoying though. They changed the color of the crest on the crane from red to blue cause it looked too much like an endangered species.

Um, I don't recall saying saying they weren't Raptors...
Yeah, I still can't get over how they change the color of a spot on a Crane's head but they're perfectly fine with killing humans.

I'd love an eagle pet, or some kind of bird that hovers instead of hopping like the phoenix. The flamingo and crane are cool, but seem too fragile to picture as a pet.

The point is that there are dozens of species of eagles, but only one giant panda. No country can make the claim that China did with giant pandas because eagles are spread throughout all the whole world. If it was a specific species, then possibly I suppose.

Just because the animal is endangered doesn't mean it won't be put into the game. Pygmy hippos are endangered but they were charmable pets in Nightfall preview. One of the subspecies is also critically endangered, and could very well be extinct soon. Of course, whether or not things change from now until the release of Nightfall who knows.

I agree. People have too much free time to complain about things that shouldn't be complained about. So much worse going on in the world and yet putting an animal in the game gets people all worked up. Not like this is a game where you are learning how to hunt animals or something. But just my opinion.

Eagle, hawk, whatever. I agree with the basic concept. Some sort of bird of prey would be nice, provided it actually flies and doesn't hop around on the ground or something.

Since it would have to abide to the same movement rules as other pets do, it'd just look weird. The phoenix is kind of OK, being a mythological animal and whatnot, but to have an eagle slowly flap its wings and hover a couple feet off the ground would be inappropriate.

What about an oversized dragonfly? I think that would be cool, and they can hover anyways.
And couldn't the eagle just sit on your shoulder until you selected a target?? what would be wrong with that?

so my white tiger promotes the death of an extremelly rare animal?
are white tigers any worse then pandas? i dont think so
i see no reason why eagle would be offensive. ya ok symbols and stuff, but its not like were burning the USA flag here... its just an animal which does not necessary mean its gonna look like the Eagle, it might look diffrent.

I agree. There's probably nothing to be done about it, though. I'm sure ArenaNet doesn't find anything offensive about these things. They just take them out or don't put them in to avoid the bad press that would result from PETA or just a bunch of people getting all upset. Can't really blame them.

The reason we can't have Pandas is because in China, killing a Panda is potentially punishable by the death penatly. It is also illegal to depict the killing of the panda in a game.
I don't think they're that anal about White Tigers or Eagles. I'm not sure what country is so uptight about the crane though.

I wouldn't mind an Eagle...except for the politcal problem.
Pets with elemental attacks aren't a bad idea, except I can't think of any pet that is both reasonable to be tamed and reasonable to have elemental attacks.
WAY OFF TOPIC: Benjamin Franklin wanted the TURKEY to be the bird of the US...

Unless that eagle would be a scavenger with a white head, hold 13 arrows in one claw and olive branches in the one one while holding a banner in it's beak with some inscription no one really cares about - you'd have an argument.
Furthermore, you don't see any Russians complaining the use of (russian) bears in game, do you?

I like it! Let us have more pets with different damage type. Polar bears with icy damage. Fiery poenix with fire damage. Rats with earth damage. Apes with blunt damage. If we can have slashing/piercing pets, why not cover it all?
